The Wilson College of Textiles (WCOT) is recognized as a worldwide leader in textile education and research. Our interdisciplinary College incorporates programs that approach science from both fundamental and applied perspectives. Current academic and research programs deliver knowledge that informs global textile supply chains based on inputs from chemistry, design, engineering, management and marketing. Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management:
NC State’s Wilson College of Textiles, and the Department of Textile and Apparel Technology and Management, prepares future leaders for the textile, apparel, home, furniture, fashion and retail industries.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, our undergraduate and graduate programs incorporate global marketplace dynamics with a strategic management focus. Our graduates incorporate art/design and science/technology with management concepts in creative problem-solving. Essential Job Duties

The department of Textiles and Apparel, Technology and Management (TATM) at NC State University seeks applicants for multiple 9-month positions (Lecturer and/or Teaching Assistant Professor) in Fashion Design and Product Management, beginning in the Fall 2020 semester.

Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Teaching courses and promoting student learning in the department at the undergraduate level;
  • Demonstrating competence in several of the following: fashion design, pattern making, draping, apparel production using industry machines, 2D and 3D pattern development and visualization and related CAD technologies, product data management, and portfolio evaluation and presentation; and,
  • Motivating students to perform at the level of excellence expected from students from the Wilson College of Textiles.

Minimum Experience and Education

Teaching Assistant Professor:

  • Doctoral degree in the discipline from a recognized/accredited university or equivalent terminal academic qualifications.
  • Ability or potential in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility.

Other Required Qualifications

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate competence in the product construction with industry technologies, as well as industry experiences that provide knowledge of the global textile value chain.
