Job Summary
This position assists in directing the university’s financial aid operations and in ensuring compliance with all related state and federal regulations. The position will perform various administrative duties including, under the guidance of the Director, training and supervision of the financial aid staff. The Assistant Director has various technical responsibilities related to using the BANNER student information system and various other federal and state information systems to process federal and state aid. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid. Some evening and weekend hours are expected and periodic travel is required.
Responsibilities- Processes applications and makes financial aid awards. (75%)Reviews the accuracy of financial aid applications and resolves conflicting data.Awards federal, state, private, and institutional aid.Certifies student loans, both private and federal.Resolves over-awards.Reconciles funds as need.Counsels students and parents on the financial aid process.
- Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.More than three years of related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, policies, and procedures.

- Knowledge of database programs and how to extract and arrange data.
- Knowledge one or more financial aid software programs currently in use; prior experience in BANNER required. Knowledge of federal and state student aid online reporting systems.Knowledge of need analysis principles.Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.Skill in decision making and problem solving.Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.Skill in oral and written communication.
