Job Description:

The student assistant will be available to publicize the department’s work, to carry out research projects that pertain to students and to perform departmental tasks relating to majors. This will include working alone or with faculty in researching and posting information on our bulletin board about history majors, courses, student and faculty accomplishments, scholarship by faculty members and important historical events or anniversaries. The student will also gather and publicize general data that is relevant to the interests and career planning of current history majors. In addition, the department assistant will serve as a student liaison to the department, assisting with departmental outreach and promoting departmental events on campus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Applicants should be history majors. They should understand the historical process, how to gather historical data and how to present coherent narratives. Good communication skills are necessary for acting as a liaison between faculty and students.

Experience:
Seniors and juniors in the History department who have taken HIST 0600 will be preferred.
