In the achievement of these goals, Mass General Brigham’s data and analytic teams are working together to build a system-wide data ecosystem. We are both leveraging current assets and building new, integrated solutions to provide a holistic set of industry-leading data and analytic capabilities, supporting Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and real-time insights. Teams from Data and Analytics, Research Analytics, Clinical Data Science, and Information Systems are collaborating to build this new data and analytic ecosystem. To ensure success of this effort, Mass General Brigham is standing up a new Data and Analytics operating model with a goal of driving a level of standardization for data and analytic operations across the teams involved.

The value of investments in data and analytics were proven out during our response to COVID-19 as these investments were leveraged to stand up new reporting and analytic capabilities to support executive and clinical leadership on managing the pandemic. Our broad data and analytic community has come together across Mass General Brigham ’s 14 healthcare sites with shared urgency, delivering analytic tools to our system that drove timely insights in both clinical and operational domains, resulting in effective delivery of critical care and in organizational efficiencies during a time of reduced resources.

Summary

This individual would be a member of the DAO Program Management team, reporting to the Technical Program Management Director. The team will have 3 resources within the DAO responsible for monitoring and managing the execution of strategic projects across all DAO workstreams. We play a critical and dynamic role coordinating across teams internal & external to the DAO to streamline processes, centralize reporting, and drive consensus among cross-functional teams. Within the DAO, we work closely with DAO Managers and the Senior Leadership Team to validate priorities, mitigate risks & manage dependencies, and manage the fiscal year budget and staffing plan.

In this role you will develop and manage budget vs. cost models and resource allocation reports. You will leverage existing reporting, budgeting, and analytic systems used at multiple MGB institutions, and will work in collaboration with MGB Central Finance and other departments as needed to execute a streamlined financial reporting process. Scope includes: maintenance of budget and resource plan for the DAO, completion of monthly financial reporting deliverables, collaboration with DAO Managers inform forecasts, management of vendor contracts and statements of work. Additionally, we’re seeking analytic, independent thinkers who will use insights from finance & resource trend data to help inform strategic decisions and enhance the department’s reporting and forecasting approach.

While the primary function of this role is financial reporting, we are seeking a candidate with a desire to expand scope within the DAO Program Management team. As new projects arise, you may assume other responsibilities or support special projects under the direction of the Technical Program Management Director.
Mass General Brigham’s main office is in Somerville, MA. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain Data & Analytics Organization (DAO) budget under the direction of the Technical Program Management Director
  • Scope includes capital and operating expenses across several project workstreams
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting deliverables including: Fiscal Year Estimate at Complete, Monthly Forecast, Prior Month Forecast vs. Actuals Variance, Monthly Resource Allocation Model
  • Facilitate financial & resource management discussions with DAO Managers
  • Develop and present executive summaries for DAO leadership
  • Help to create future budgets and staffing plans
  • Manage and track third party vendor statements of work and invoices for project resources
  • Collaborate with MGB Central Finance department and other departments as needed to meet MGB reporting requirements
  • Assist Technical Program Management Director for special projects as needed:
  • Scope of this role are expected to expand to meet increasing scope of the DAO project portfolio
  • May include program management tasks, cross team coordination, and reporting on project KPIs & value metrics

Qualifications

Requirements & Preferences
  • 5+ years of analytical experience

  • 2+ years of experience supporting a Financial Reporting system

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint

  • General knowledge of financial/accounting principles preferred

  • Must be team focused, possessing strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels

  • Problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to learn quickly

  • Brings innovative and creative mindset and will act as a thought partner for colleagues

  • Strong organizational skills including an ability to establish priorities, exercise good judgment, meet deadlines, and ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal

  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes in priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Assist DAO Leadership in managing $20M-$30M budget

  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using MGB resources

Working Conditions
MGB has implemented special remote working policies due to COVID-19. These policies are subject to change; however, it is currently expected that this position will work remotely (e.g. from home) full time through June 2021
