General Purpose: 

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Research, the Associate/Assistant Provost serves as a strategic administrative partner in the areas of research facilities planning and operations. The Associate/Assistant Provost develops strategic and change management plans for new and long-range capital renovation projects that support research and science initiatives across the university. Develops a collaborative model of delivery and integration of research activities, technology and support services. The successful candidate will be hired into the position either as an “Assistant Provost” or “Associate Provost” based on the individual’s level of experience and background.

Required Education and Experience: 

Advanced degree in a scientific discipline and at least 5 years of related experience.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in the development of research or laboratory facilities and space planning.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of analytical science techniques and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to understand budgeting concepts, budget design and management.
  • Well-developed decision-making, planning, organizational, problem resolution and leadership skills.
  • Strong communications skills and experience with building relationships and consensus with various stakeholders.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: Ph.D. in a scientific discipline. Experience in an academic or research institution with direct interaction with faculty and administration. Experience in preparing grant proposals for federally (or other) funded research initiatives.
