Job Description:


  • Oversee academic, social, and cultural programs and services that promote the success of students of color and other under-represented populations on campus.

  • Develop diversity and inclusion workshops for both students and employees including learning outcomes and assessment components.

  • Serve as advisor to multicultural and identity based student organizations including but not limited to P.R.I.D.E. (Persons Ready in Defense of Ebony), Student of Color Working Group (SOCWG) and Greek Life (National Pan-Hellenic Council).

  • Assist in coordination of annual events including Action in the Community Day (AIC Day), Black History Month Dinner, Let's Get Real Series, and the Student Speaker Series.

  • Collaborate with other offices and departments to provide programmatic support to programs including Summer Orientation and Welcome Week.

  • Manage hiring, selection, and associated responsibilities of the College's off-campus work study students at the Boys and Girls Club, Dunbar Community Center, and Martin Luther King Center.

  • Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, and complete all paperwork in a timely manner for all programs assigned and ensures proper maintenance of records.

  • Participate in and support general Student Engagement programming and management and departmental, divisional, and institutional goal setting, committees, and special projects.



Requirements:


  • Required Degree(s): Master's degree

  • Required Field of Expertise: Higher education Administration, Student Affairs Administration, Diversity and Multicultural Studies.

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Student Affairs Administration, Diversity and Multicultural Studies.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Experience with diversity on college/university campuses; fraternity/sorority issues in higher education; student leadership, activities and programming
  • Experience with making new positive relationships/connections with community as well as maintaining current relationships
  • Ability to work well with students, alumnae/alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Work Schedule


The Assistant Director of Student Life for Diversity Education is a full time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal business hours are Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, flexible to the needs of the department. Evening and weekend event supervision is required.
