Director, SOM SurgerySurgery - Administration

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

The Director for the Department of Surgery is responsible for administration of the department.  This includes but is not limited to Strategic Planning and Business Development, Marketing, Financial, Human Resources, Clinical Operations and Activities, Grants/Contracts Activities, Office Management Operations, oversight of all satellite clinics throughout the state, the residency and fellowship training programs, and fund raising activities in conjunction with the Chair to help build the Endowment. Oversees coordination of nonscientific/administrative portion of grant activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and six years of directly related experience or high school diploma/equivalent and twelve years of directly related work experience
• Five years experience in various administrative management systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's level education
• Three years' experience with patient care contract negotiation
• Five years' experience in the patient care environment including direct patient handling, physician billing, collections, insurance filing, etc.
• Three years' experience with extramural research funding
