Job Description Summary

Housed in the Educational Technologies and Learning Management team at Penn Libraries the Emerging and Digital Literacy Instructional Designer will work closely with library and campus educational technology and IT colleagues to develop and promote effective and innovative pedagogical design using emerging and digital tools for in person, hybrid, and online instruction.

The Emerging and Digital Literacy Instructional Designer will design and facilitate workshops, templates, and learning modules grounded in learning theory, practice, and principles for librarians, faculty, instructors, and staff; and will promote the use of emerging and digital technologies among schools and centers. The ideal candidate will possess professional experience designing

online courses, teaching, and producing digital media in a higher education setting. S/he collaborates with colleagues across campus to leverage the role of digital and emerging literacies as well as evaluate and contribute to other emergent educational technology initiatives on campus.

DUTIES:

·Work closely with the Educational Technology and Learning Spaces staff to design programming that increases student engagement with the Libraries and Library material

·Design and facilitate workshops, templates, and learning modules grounded in learning theory, practice, and principles for librarians, faculty, instructors, and staff;

·Promote the use of emerging and digital technologies among schools and centers.

·Collaborate with colleagues across campus to leverage the role of digital and emerging literacies

·Evaluate and contribute to other emergent educational technology initiatives on campus.

The ideal candidate will possess professional experience designing online courses, teaching, and producing digital media, and experimenting with learning and Emerging Technologies in a University Library or equivalent higher education setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Library Information Science, Instructional Design, or a related field and related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Demonstrated experience supporting instructional technology within a college or university setting. The ability to work both independently and collegially, and to collaborate effectively. Effective oral and written communication skills and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Experience supporting the use of technology in learning in a library setting strongly preferred.
