Provides electrical maintenance service for campus buildings, equipment and facilities.

Essential Functions

*Performs routine electrical maintenance work on lights and life safety equipment. Reads electrical meters and records data.
Assists with repairs to fire alarm systems and security systems.
*Sets up P.A. systems, scoreboard and electrical equipment for athletic games and special events and provides coverage as requested.
*Operates tools and equipment required to perform work assignments.
*Procures necessary materials to perform work.
*Assists with electrical renovation/rewiring for building projects.
*Assists with repair, installation, operation and maintenance of all electrical and electronic devices, systems and equipment as directed and coordinates with other trades as needed.
*Performs life safety equipment repairs and inspections, i.e. emergency lights, exit signs and GFCI protected outlets.
Performs associated Facilities Services Department service work as requested, including, but not limited to: snow removal, event set-up and clean-up, truck loading and unloading and grounds maintenance.
*Works cooperatively and accepts direction from supervisors.
*Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Middlebury College and departmental policies and procedures.

General Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission including event setups and snow removal.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent. On-the-job training, vocational training preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have experience with basic electrical systems and ground electrical maintenance work.
Other
Must have valid driver’s license and good driving skills. Must provide own vehicle for transportation of self, tools and for procuring small materials. Furnishes hand tools for electrical work. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of regular or rotating shift, if required. Must be available for flexible shifts and overtime, as necessary. Requires long periods of time standing and frequent stair and ladder climbing. Also requires frequent bending, squatting and overhead reaching.

Experience

Must have at least 2 years of prior relevant work experience.
