Students in this position will work with staff members of Carry The Load, a non-profit dedicated to providing active, meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes — military, veterans, first responders and their families. Student workers will be expected to collaborate virtually with and be an extension of Carry The Load staff to support recruitment of students and community members for Carry The Load’s National Relay. On-campus advocacy and marketing projects will be required.
This is a 19 hour per week maximum, part-time student position reporting to both the National Relay Director at Carry The Load and the Director of Service-Learning at the College. The weekly schedule will be assigned by the supervisor in conjunction with the student’s class schedule. The work schedule is subject to change between semesters or as needed. Student employees are not to work during scheduled class times, even if classes are cancelled or dismissed early.

Essential Duties
  • Coordinate with Carry The Load staff, virtually or by phone, to help the organization promote their mission.
  • Prepare, support, and host National Relay awareness and recruitment events, or other related program initiatives set forth by the organization.
  • Act as an extension of Carry The Load staff on campus and in the local community.
  • Support the programs, organizations, and individuals who are working with the Carry The Load organization.
  • Coordinate with and participate in meetings with students, student groups, and like-minded community organizations to promote participation in the National Relay.
  • Prepare a sustainability plan for efforts on-campus involving recruitment for the National Relay.
  • Report bi-weekly to the Center for Service-Learning with regard to the Federal Work Study position and the progress of projects at the organization in which students are deployed
Minimum Qualifications and Training

College Work Study eligible persons will have received an Award Letter in Coast and will need to upload that letter to the Documents section when applying to this position. Follow the instruction in the “Special Instructions to Applicant” area to locate your Award Letter.

Additional requirements are:

  • Must be enrolled in six credit hours.
  • Have experience with digital meeting settings.
  • Be dependable, reliable and able to work with confidential information.
  • Must be able to work with college students and adults.
  • Be in good academic standing
Preferred Qualifications and Training
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Keyboarding/word processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Ability to concurrently manage co-/extra-curricular and curricular responsibilities
