Nature of Work:

Provide support to all personnel within the Office of Academic Affairs.

This is a 19-hour per week maximum, part-time Student Assistant position, providing support to all personnel within the Office of Academic Affairs and reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The weekly schedule is contingent upon the student’s class schedule. The work schedule is subject to change between semesters. It is not permissible for students to work during scheduled class time, even if classes are cancelled or dismissed early.

The student in this position must be credible, reliable, personable and able to work with information of a confidential nature.

Essential Duties:

  • Extend excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students and visitors
  • Provide accurate information related to the daily operations of the
    department
  • Complete tasks including answering the phone, typing, copying, faxing, etc.
  • Prepare and file documents for long and short-term storage
  • Assist with document imaging of confidential records
  • Retrieve documentation from students
  • Process department mail
  • Run errands on campus
  • Complete other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Training:

  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours
  • Must possess strong customer service and communication skills
  • Must be dependable, organized, friendly and punctual
  • Must have knowledge of general office equipment
  • Must be able to work with information that is confidential in nature
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Preferred Qualifications and Training:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Work Hours :

19 hours per week (maximum) assigned in conjunction with student’s class schedule
