The Ricks School for Gifted Children (Ricks) and the Fisher Early Learning Center (Fisher) are lab schools associated with the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. The Ricks school is an innovative leader and model for gifted learning, serving students Pre-School to Grade 8. The Fisher center serves students from 6 weeks old through age 5, providing a quality program that establishes a foundation of skills and knowledge essential to the development of competent and caring young children.

Position Summary

The Morgridge College of Education is hiring a full-time benefited position that serves as the Business Officer for both the Ricks School for Gifted Children and the Fisher Early Learning Center. This position is responsible for performing and managing a variety of business functions for both schools, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Budget and Operations at Morgridge. The position has a close working relationship with the Directors of each respective school. This position manages and performs all financial and personnel functions related to the Schools, including but not limited to, financial budgeting and forecasting, personnel and financial transactions, and communications with the parents and student in financial and tuition matters.

Essential Functions

  • Manage financial budgets for both schools.
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to school Directors.
  • Manage the annual budget development process.
  • Perform quarterly financial forecasts.
  • Perform accounting functions and process financial payments and transactions, including purchase orders and purchasing cards.
  • Manage various contracts with outside vendors, including student/parent tuition contracts.
  • Manage teacher contracts.
  • Work with various stakeholders and department across the DU campus.
  • Responsible for maintaining the tuition billing system including periodic reconciliations and AR functions.
  • Communicate with parents as needed on tuition matters.
  • Perform all personnel and HR transactions (e.g., job postings, hiring, changes, etc.).
  • Manage financial aid strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with management personnel, staff and outside stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports and data.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend contractual documents.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Utilizes skills in problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Two years of work experience in administration, business, or financial management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Experience in ERP software (Banner, SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.).

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday. 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Salary Range
Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
