The Sr. Software Architect is a software expert who makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. This individual is a technical leader who is responsible for analysis and design of solutions across multiple enterprise platforms, as well as evaluation of potential new technologies and systems.
Essential Position Functions:
. Analyzes business requests or problems from an enterprise standpoint in order to determine the most effective tool(s) and/or system(s) for solutions.
. Evaluates new software for usefulness, feasibility, and compatibility with the enterprise.
. Applies advanced applications programming concepts to design, develop, modify, debug and evaluate highly complex programs for a variety of functional areas.
. Follows System Development Life Cycle and change management procedures.
. Provides technical leadership to team members and management.
. Provides guidance and training to less experienced programming staff.
. Participates in all phases of a project's lifecycle: planning and prototyping, design, development, conversion, testing and deployment.
. Creates and executes test plans to ensure quality.
. Works directly with functional, design and testing experts to validate that requirements have been met.
. Prepares program and system documentation as well as processes documents to support the change requests including diagrams, charts, etc.
. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
Preferred Department Specifics
PeopleSoft related requirements for this position are:
Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions at a senior level.
Development experience in PeopleSoft - Application Packages, Application Engine, SQR, Application Designer, Integration Broker, Web Services REST and SOAP, PeopleCode, PUM, Security, and PeopleTools 8.56+.
PeopleSoft Fluid development experience is preferred.
Ability to evaluate existing PeopleSoft customizations/integrations and make recommendations and implement as needed.
Mentor junior PeopleSoft developers as needed.
Knowledgeable on the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions data model.
Work collaboratively with functional team and others to formalize PeopleSoft solutions for enhancements and troubleshoot PeopleSoft production issues.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience with object-oriented development and relational databases including knowledge of SQL.
Self-motivated with a high commitment to excellence, collaboration and team achievement.
Experience and knowledge in systems analysis, application administration testing and implementation of complex systems.
Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment and effectively collaborate across technical and functional teams.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
Highly developed problem solving skills
Assist with the integration of new applications which may include integration architecture with our current student information system.
