The Sr. Software Architect is a software expert who makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. This individual is a technical leader who is responsible for analysis and design of solutions across multiple enterprise platforms, as well as evaluation of potential new technologies and systems.

Essential Position Functions:

. Analyzes business requests or problems from an enterprise standpoint in order to determine the most effective tool(s) and/or system(s) for solutions.

. Evaluates new software for usefulness, feasibility, and compatibility with the enterprise.

. Applies advanced applications programming concepts to design, develop, modify, debug and evaluate highly complex programs for a variety of functional areas.

. Follows System Development Life Cycle and change management procedures.

. Provides technical leadership to team members and management.

. Provides guidance and training to less experienced programming staff.

. Participates in all phases of a project's lifecycle: planning and prototyping, design, development, conversion, testing and deployment.

. Creates and executes test plans to ensure quality.

. Works directly with functional, design and testing experts to validate that requirements have been met.

. Prepares program and system documentation as well as processes documents to support the change requests including diagrams, charts, etc.

. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

ADDENDUM

Preferred Department Specifics

  • PeopleSoft related requirements for this position are:

    • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions at a senior level.

    • Development experience in PeopleSoft - Application Packages, Application Engine, SQR, Application Designer, Integration Broker, Web Services REST and SOAP, PeopleCode, PUM, Security, and PeopleTools 8.56+.

    • PeopleSoft Fluid development experience is preferred.

    • Ability to evaluate existing PeopleSoft customizations/integrations and make recommendations and implement as needed.

    • Mentor junior PeopleSoft developers as needed.

    • Knowledgeable on the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions data model.

    • Work collaboratively with functional team and others to formalize PeopleSoft solutions for enhancements and troubleshoot PeopleSoft production issues.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Experience with object-oriented development and relational databases including knowledge of SQL.

  • Self-motivated with a high commitment to excellence, collaboration and team achievement.

  • Experience and knowledge in systems analysis, application administration testing and implementation of complex systems.

  • Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment and effectively collaborate across technical and functional teams.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously

  • Highly developed problem solving skills

  • Assist with the integration of new applications which may include integration architecture with our current student information system.

  • Remote work option is available.
