Positions in this series provide support in delivering psychiatric, developmentally disabled, special education, or nursing care and therapeutic treatment to an assigned client population. Duties include supervising clients in a variety of settings; observing and reporting client behavior, physical condition, reactions to medications; participating as a team member in group therapy sessions; performing preventative and practical nursing procedures, such as taking and recording client’s vital signs; teaching basic living skills, hygiene, and social skills and explaining various routines and expectations; providing immediate crisis intervention when required; and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Those positions with required licensure may administer prescribed treatments and medications under the supervision of a registered nurse. Some positions may work in security settings where the positions follow policies and procedures to ensure the safety of themselves and others.Nature of WorkThis is an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) position at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. The person hired will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support at the BDC and as assigned, at outreach clinics.Supervision ReceivedThis position reports to the Quality Improvement manager and the Assistant Medical Director, Dr. Alonso. Supervision will include training and oversight for the position’s responsibilities. The position is part of the Pediatric clinic team and the employee will be expected to assist the staff members within that section.Supervision ProvidedNo supervision of others is required of this position.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis is position requires interest in patient care and administrative tasks, the ability to be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment. QualificationsMinimum QualificationsMinimum of a high school diploma requiredPreferred Qualifications 1-year work experience in a medical setting preferred. Experience working with medical professionals is desirable.Medical Assistant experience requiredElectronic Medical Record and medical terminology knowledge highly desirableWorking ConditionsPosition requires Monday-Friday hours based on clinic appointment schedule. - Function as MA at BDC Pediatric clinic by doing height, weight, blood pressure and device downloads.
- Help blood draws as needed
- Give flu shots per provider’s order
- Administer depression screen as needed
- Order pump supplies as needed
- Entering lab results from outside labs and BDC 4th floor lab into EPIC
- Practicing good HIPAA compliance
- Other duties as assigned
