Description:

The Department of Ophthalmology invites applications for a tenure-accruing/non-tenure accruing faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate would be joining a highly interactive group with an effective balance between mechanistic basic research and translational research. The ideal candidate will have research interests in addressing the visual disorders affecting our daytime vision and color vision and will provide insight into rational treatment options.


Qualifications:

Completion of an approved doctoral program.  A strong background in vision research demonstrated by a strong publication record and successful funding.  In addition to research, candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching in an academic setting.  Experience with the study of disease mechanisms by which cone opsin mutants cause cone dystrophy and will test gene therapy methods for rescuing cone function.  Prefer expertise with inherited retinal degenerations and gene therapy rescue of these diseases.
