Job Description:

Semi-annual facility inspections

The IACUC office and committee are responsible for conducting hundreds of semi-annual inspections of animal research facilities. This position is particularly responsible for overseeing the coordination, conduct, and completion of inspections. This includes becoming an expert on the requirements for semi-annual inspections, helping train inspectors, scheduling inspections, arranging for inspectors, helping conduct inspections, facilitating the completion of inspection reports, communicating with the affiliated researchers/departments/college, monitoring inspection issues, and ensuring compliance with corrective action plans in order to help ensure all facilities meet IACUC mandated standards.

IACUC post approval activities

Work with the Regulator Manager to cross train and assist with a wide variety of IACUC staff responsibilities including post approval monitoring, non-compliance reports, AAALAC preparations, researcher and committee training/education, and other special projects as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

Salary commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of experience in appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in biology, life science, or related field, and four (4) years of experience in biomedical research or regulatory affairs. Experience must have been obtained in facilities utilizing NIH funding that follow requirements set forth by OLAW, as well as the AAALAC Int'l, and the USDA.

Strong preference for individuals with a proven track record as an IACUC coordinator, animal research lab manager, animal husbandry, or veterinarian technician.

Certification as an AALAS technician (ALAS, LAT, or LATG) or Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA) preferred. Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA).

Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, having the ability to interact with people from a wide range of scientific and medical experience.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and other appropriate programs.
