 Georgia State University’s Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) is looking for two (2) skilled and experienced instructional designers to help develop new online courses and programs and to improve student outcomes in existing online offerings. Partnering with faculty, multimedia developers, graphic designers, learning analysts, learning technology specialists, and other experts. CETL Instructional Designers provide leadership critical to creating innovative, data-driven, and standards-compliant courses that deepen student learning, integrate student success resources, improve the student experience, and take full advantage of the affordances of modern digital  learning pedagogies and technologies. Applying their expertise in design, collaboration facilitation, education, and digital learning technologies, CETL Instructional Designers will be key to improving online student outcomes and expanding the success and reach of Georgia State’s student success mission.

 

The scope responsibility will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following:

 Both individually and as a team member, apply instructional design principles and pedagogical best practices to create professional quality learning objects and online environments that meet the specific needs of project stakeholders.

 Instructional Design

  • Build or integrate web-based learning resources – LMS and LMS – integrated tools; productivity software; web conferencing tools; websites, blogs and other web applications – into face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.

  • Use templates to construct learning objects, modules, units, and courses.

  • Contribute to the design, assessment, customization, and continuous improvement of instructional design templates.

  • Consult with faculty on the development of course curricula and learning activities.

  • Develop activities and assessments connected to measurable learning objectives.

  • Use a variety of computing platforms, software, audio-visual equipment, and other technologies to design solutions to pedagogical challenges.

Work individually and collaboratively to meet deadlines and expectations set for course and program design projects.

 Collaboration and Communication

  • Organize, prioritize, schedule multiple work assignments to enable positive contributions to project teams.

  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to requests for information.

  • Adhere to communications and transparency guidelines, as established by project leads and managers.

  • Attend and be a positive contributor at check-in and team meetings

  • Participate in work-related community events.

Coordinate Instructional Design project work.

  • Leadership and Project Management

  • Serve as project manager for instructional design projects, communicating progress to instructional design leads and management.

Stay up to date on emerging trends and technologies related to learning solutions development and instructional design.

 Professional Development, Research, and Outreach

  • Attend and present at professional conferences, webinars, training sessions, or workshops.

  • Read professional books, articles, newsfeeds, and blogs.

  • Share new findings and insights with colleagues and stakeholders.



QualificationsBachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
