The Grant Manager, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) plays a leadership role in managing the grant’s day-to-day operations and program activities. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

This Temporary Grant Position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after six (6) consecutive months of continuous employment.

  • Oversees the daily operations and activities of the grant to achieve project deliverables
  • Develops and coordinates plans for student recruitment/outreach and retention activities in STEM fields
  • Manages the implementation of student related programs and co-curricular activities
  • Coordinates hiring and scheduling mentors, tutors and assists with the advisement of STEM students
  • Coordinates and schedules faculty professional development trainings
  • Coordinates activities of grant faculty and student services personnel for improved services to students in STEM
  • Monitors and documents project’s activities to ensure project efforts are meeting the requirements of the funding source
  • Prepares project budget reports to ensure compliance with established fiscal policies and procedures
  • Prepares Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) action plans and analyzes program data collection
  • Serves on College committees as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related experience in project and grants management, professional development and training and/or STEM educational outreach programs or; Bachelor’s degree in STEM field from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of related experience in project and grants management, professional development and training and/or STEM educational outreach programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of college career services and College-wide policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of support programs and ability to make proper referrals
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge and understanding of CQI methods including quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods
  • Demonstrated ability in training or instruction strategies including design, delivery and evaluation
  • Strong organizational, time management, and team-building skills; proven negotiation/consensus-building skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and quantitative skills
  • Detail-oriented and have the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative and responsibility
  • Ability to define problems using independent judgment and critical thinking, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
