FSU's Equal Opportunity Statement can be viewed at: This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining network communications infrastructure to include but not be limited to: voice, video, data, access, security and IP devices throughout the University network.

Installs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs/splices network cabling for all communications networking to include but not limited to fiber optic cable, Cable Television (CATV and other coaxial cable, building infrastructure Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), Shielded Twisted Pair (STP), and Local Area Network (LAN) cabling. Coordinates with network management concerning cable plant and building wiring installations, repairs, changes, and design.

Reviews, interprets, and prepares worksheets, minor estimates, services orders, network diagrams, and blueprints describing nature of voice, video, security and data communications systems to be installed and/or repaired. Provides detail records of all work activity.

Limited programming and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) based equipment such as: cameras, security devices, switches, wireless access points, and other network equipment.

May serve as an on-site work coordinator in the absence of or at the request of the Supervisor.

Performs other duties as required and moves heavy objects of 25 pounds or more. A State vehicle, golf cart, utility vehicle, or all-terrain vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid driver's license will be needed in order to operate vehicle.

Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency and three years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to three years.

Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and working on construction sites

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to document existing and new processes.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair a variety of equipment and machinery used in area of work.

Ability to install and terminate Cat-5/Cat-6/and Coaxial cabling through conduit and cable tray systems in institutional and commercial buildings

Ability to create a daily material list and the ability to fill out a daily journal of work completed.

Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work.

Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the telecommunications, network, and data fields.

A FLorida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain one.Preferred Ability to terminate fiber.

Ability to install conduit.

Ability to operate power tools and scissor lifts.Pay Plan This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.Soft Money Funded Position This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
