Tulane Center of Clinical Neurosciences, Department of Neurosurgery in New Orleans, Louisiana is seeking a licensed Physician Assistant to join a team of five advanced practice providers, along with seven attending neurosurgeons. Clinical responsibilities will include participation in the care of neurological/neurosurgical patients in the inpatient, operative, and outpatient settings at East Jefferson General Hospital, Tulane Medical Center, and other facilities as needed. The PA is responsible for providing direct patient care under approved protocols in accordance with the Clinical Practice Guidelines within the PA Scope of Practice. Under the direction of their supervising physician, the PA autonomously performs patient assessments, diagnosis, and implements an appropriate plan of care, including hospital admissions/discharges, progression/maintenance of treatments, needed procedures, and prescriptive authority. This is a faculty level position. Faculty members are expected to participate in administrative activities including institutional and departmental committees, departmental conferences such as Neurosurgery Grand Rounds, Morbidity & Mortality Conference, and faculty meetings.


Work experience with patients in a hospital/clinic setting is essential.

Required - Current Certified Physician Assistant license or State of Louisiana License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). 

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association

Eligible for Louisiana Prescriptive Authority as outlined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
