Program Manager, Healthy Neighborhoods ProjectGlobal Community Health and Behavioral Science

Location: New Orleans, LA

Summary

The Program Manager will be responsible for management of one of the Center's key community research projects, a cluster randomized trial of neighborhood blight abatement as a health improvement and violence reduction tool.  The Program Manager will oversee programmatic and administrative duties related to the study implementation, specifically with local residential cohort arms of the study.  This includes managing staff and research assistants/students; monitoring performance and quality control; and coordinating cohort community and work with our community partners.  S/he will also be the primary point of contact for the public and outreach of findings from the cohort.  The position will consult with the Center Director on project design and timelines; facilitate communication between all project entities including research assistants, local partners, and City of New Orleans leadership; facilitate process improvement efforts and develop protocol implementation; manage project data; supervise research assistants; and assist with the completion of project  reports, presentations, research manuscripts and grant-writing.  By remediating and maintaining abandoned lots and houses across New Orleans and studying its impact on violence and health/well-being, the project's findings will contribute to the local and national effort to reduce morbidity, mortality, and disability resulting from blighted urban environments in US cities. The proposed research will also provide novel information on the role of the proposed community-level family and youth violence reduction strategy, providing a greater understanding of practical abandoned building remediation policies that ultimately could lead to the prevention of violence-related injuries and deaths.
