The Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) seeks a creative, enthusiastic individual with strong communications and graphic design skills. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Director of Graphic Design and serve as a key member on the Marketing and Communications team that supports the whole of DAR akin to an agency within the larger University unit. The successful candidate will support the Development, Donor Relations and Alumni Relations teams of DAR by producing engaging print publications and invitations and digital assets for web, video, email and social media—always on brand and sensitive to budget constraints. Essential strengths include: a true passion for design, strong project management skills, a collaborative spirit, efficient execution of high-quality design under tight deadlines, the ability to take criticism, a positive customer service approach when serving internal clients and proven experience in effectively juggling multiple projects at a time.

Accountabilities:
  1. Provide design support for Alumni Relations, Development and Donor Relations in collaboration with the Director of Graphic Design and in accordance with the Lehigh brand
    • Respond promptly to requests
    • Offer clients multiple solutions at the outset of the request
    • Offer clients multiple design concepts for review
    • Consistently manage multiple brand identities, including: Lehigh University, GO: The Campaign for Lehigh and other DAR programs and initiatives
  2. Act as the Project Manager for print, direct mail and collateral projects
    • Set production schedules and monitor design projects in Workfront—DAR’s work management system
    • Organize, schedule and art direct photo shoots
    • Manage and obtain feedback and approvals from DAR clients
    • Incorporate revisions in a timely and accurate manner
    • Update project budgets and submit invoices for work to Finance promptly
  3. Manage vendor relationships
    • Serve as liaison between DAR and vendors
    • Share design files according to design/printer best practices
    • Communicate expectations to vendor and updates to DAR staff
  4. Provide design support for the Digital Marketing Team
    • Create graphics for mass email communications
    • Create graphics for social media
    • Create graphics for web
    • Create animations
  5. Provide design support for Videography
    • Create animations
    • Create graphics for video
  6. Stay abreast of design best practices and trends
    • Stay knowledgeable about best practices related to design and user experience/marketing
    • Provide design expertise and guidance to the Marketing and Communications team when marketing plans/campaigns are being conceived
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Graphic Design or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Five to eight years related work experience
  3. Communications and graphic design experience in professional setting, including writing and design on deadline and generation of creative ideas
  4. Ability to independent complete projects on time and on budget, and report on status and progress
  5. Photography, video, and multimedia experience a strong plus
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Excellent writing ability, organizational skills and attention to detail
  8. Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
  9. Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, county and national criminal background checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance. Based upon the requirements of the position Lehigh may also request credit history reports, motor vehicle checks and professional license/certification verification
