Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to all administrative departments, student programs, and all academic schools and departments. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of over 100 buildings totaling 6 million GSF on over 235 acres.Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in managing the housekeeping services program for all buildings at the University of North Carolina Greensboro with the exception of the residence dorms. Housekeeping services is provided to more than 60 buildings with an area of more than 5 million GSF. Total staff includes approximately 113 employees and 7 supervisors.
The Assistant Manager for housekeeping reports to the Assistant Director for Facility Services and manages the following areas: day shift supervisors and day shift staff.
Responsibilities include: customer service, managing work and performance, planning and organizing work, budgeting, training, accident/injury prevention, technical knowledge, and human resources management. This position is also responsible for recommending improvements to and the implementation of cleaning techniques and equipment.
This position is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.Minimum Qualifications
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND FOUR YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT, OF WHICH TWO YEARS ARE SUPERVISORY; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE CERTIFICATION OR ELIGIBILITY FOR CERTIFICATION.Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and CertificatesPreferred Qualifications
Prefer a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of five years of leadership, and/or a management background the includes team building, open direct communications, and the ability to follow and implement directives.
Preferred candidates will possess knowledge of basic computing systems and software and can compose communications free of misspellings and errors.
Preferred candidates will be certified in Institutional, Educational, Health Care or Infectious Disease control by one or more of the following agencies: ISSA, APPA, CDC, EPA, or OSHA.Alternate Option
