Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; working in confined spaces; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and cuts/punctures.


Primarily 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Position supports MCC Pharmacy team activities with regards to holiday and weekend requirements.

Job Summary

The Clinical Research Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist provides hematology/oncology pharmacy expertise in support of investigational drug trials in Markey Cancer Center. The pharmacist supports the research mission of Markey Cancer Center by assisting in protocol review, assisting in creation of research protocol order sets, supports protocol amendments, leading QA/QI projects that arise from collaborative meetings, providing support in the development of investigator-initiated protocols with regards to pharmacology and pharmacy logistics, and participating in protocol audits as requested. The pharmacist also makes clinical interventions in terms of promoting rational, cost-effective drug therapy that enhances the quality of care in line with Enterprise goals. The pharmacist will interact with pharmacy residents and students on a regular basis and will provide education to multidisciplinary staff as needed. The pharmacist will represent oncology pharmacy on Enterprise and Cancer Center Committees as warranted.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; a “team” mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/Experience

PharmD and completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency program (or equivalent experience) preferred.
