Position: Assistant Professor of Public Health, Tenure-Track, Anticipated Starting date - Fall 2022

Position Description: The Department of Health Sciences is seeking a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Public Health, whose primary teaching responsibilities will include broad areas of Descriptive and Analytic Epidemiology, Health Disparities, Social and Behavioral Epidemiology and Environmental Epidemiology; and if needed, Foundations of Health Science courses in the University’s liberal arts core curriculum and/or first year program. It is expected that the individual in this position will also develop courses in areas of expertise to expand our Health Sciences major and diversify the courses available to our students. The teaching load for this position is four (4) courses per semester. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to: (1). Excellence in teaching, preferably in a liberal arts education setting; (2). Establishing a productive research program that will involve undergraduate students; (3). Academic advising to ensure student success and prepare students readiness for graduate programs and career in discipline; and (4). Providing services to the department, school, university, and community.

Qualifications: Earned Ph.D., Dr. Ph., or equivalent research doctorate degree in a Public Health or related discipline from an accredited institution and must have a broad background in teaching undergraduate public health courses and be an effective team worker. Potential candidates must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills. The successful candidate must have demonstrated an interest and aptitude for teaching a diverse population of undergraduate students in support of the mission of a public liberal arts institution, an understanding of diversity and equity, and evidence of scholarly works and professional service. A.B.D. will be considered with a doctoral degree completion date on or before August 2022.

Preferred Qualifications: One year or more of undergraduate teaching experience in the

related courses, and/or an experience in teaching pre-health professional students, preferably in a liberal arts education institution; a Master of Public Health from an accredited institution; and/or with practical field experience in epidemiology and public health.
