The Director of Video and Lighting Production supports the innovative video technology operations for the Frost School of Music (FSOM). The position functions as part of a team involved in the production of live events. The position requires a high level of independent proficiency in setting up and operating video recording and streaming equipment in our concert halls. The position also involves training and supervising student video engineers. This position requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate coverage for evening and/or weekend classes and events.


Duties and Responsibilities
• Overseeing and coordinating video streaming and recording for FSOM live events, including the operation of multiple cameras and live switching.
• Overseeing and coordinating lighting design and operation for FSOM live events
• Working as part of a team with the production services (audio) and concert hall management staff on all event planning and execution activities
• Working closely with the artistic/ensemble director for each event, on the development, planning, and execution of the lighting and video production elements for the event.
• Serving as the lead video engineer for Frost Live Signature Series live events and other high profile events.
• Maintaining all video equipment, including the live switching system and PTZ cameras used at the FSOM.
• Assisting with the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and breaking down all video equipment used for FSOM live events.
• Performing post-production editing of video recordings captured in FSOM live events, including ensuring technical quality and consistency, as well as exporting and publishing the final versions to various platforms as needed.
• Overseeing a program to train students video engineers (hourly workers) on how to operate video cameras and perform video editing.
• Supervising student video and lighting engineers, including scheduling, time-sheet approvals, and assessing their performance
• Participating in, organizing, and occasionally leading workshop and seminar events for the Frost community on topics related to video production and lighting.
• Work with FSOM’s UM IT liaison to coordinate infrastructure support for video technology use across the FSOM.
• Occasionally overseeing the video production of FSOM events taking place off-campus
• Occasionally overseeing the work of contractors hired to provide additional video production services at FSOM events.

Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technology or communications discipline. Degree preferred media technology/production, film/television production, or related field.

Experience:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience. Experience in video recording and streaming of live events, video switching, and video editing, preferred.
• Experience in lighting design and operation for live events

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
• Knowledge of basic networking topologies, especially NDI video protocol
• Knowledge of PTZ camera operation and troubleshooting
• Excellent communications and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
