Benefits EligibleYesEligible for OvertimeNoPosition SummaryReporting to the associate vice president for enterprise information systems, the manager of enterprise systems will manage the day to day operations and projects of Rice University’s enterprise class systems including financial, HR/payroll, procurement, facility, and document management systems. They will need to be a transformative leader, someone who understands emerging technologies or new processes and how they can be leveraged to benefit the customer and Rice. They will be responsible for a high volume of automation and tools such as RPA that will be utilized within the application portfolio they are responsible for. They will grow their applications in a manner that Rice will get maximum return on their investments. They will manage the implementation and maintenance of vendor software components, upgrades, quarterly release cycles, patches, software development efforts, and the ongoing production operations. The individual manages and coordinates the system integrations, administration, and middleware. They will be focused on continual process improvement by partnering with their customers and departments on operations and projects. They will work individually and through team leads to achieve high performing, reliable systems and complete projects and provide presentations that speak to the KPIs and continuing value the team brings.

Substitution for Education RequirementMay substitute additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis in lieu of the education requirement.Education PreferredMaster’s or professional degree.
Experience Required8 yearsType of Experience- Related professional work experience in software development and systems support for enterprise-wide, mission-critical business systems using Oracle and Java technologies
- Expertise in business process redesign, continual process improvement and reporting results
- Some experience supervising staff and/or leading project teams
- Experience with managing ERP and HCM solutions, Oracle Cloud preferred
- Experience managing release cycle cloud environment
- Experience as an IT Service Owner, defining and managing services
- Experience with day to day operational management to ensure system performance and stability, incident management/resolution, and SLA management
- Experience creating department procedures and documentation
- Detailed understanding of relevant business and technical knowledge
- Business analysis and redesign
- Ability to resolve issues quickly and make decisions that meet university objectives, in a collaborative culture
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
- Ability to manage team in a work from home posture
- Exceptional customer relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment
- Strong technical and application development skills, including proficiency in Oracle, Java, object oriented software, and integration technologies
- Ability to manage project teams as large as 30 people in a matrixed environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to provide KPI reporting metrics on outcomes and complete understanding of system utilization or under-utilization
Internal Contacts: The incumbent has frequent contact with university administrators at all levels in planning for system enhancements and resolving issues as well as occasional contact with faculty and students on projects requiring their input or as users of the system.
External Contacts: The incumbent has occasional contact working with vendors to resolve system issues, planning for system changes, and in training.

- Creates and executes business and technical plans, and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
