The Division of Digital Strategy and Innovation is responsible for leading the university in the areas of educational technology, online and blended initiatives, and digital learning research serving students and faculty both on-campus and at a distance. Digital Strategy and Innovation collaborates with faculty, staff, and students across UNT’s academic and administrative units to ensure a world-class, 21st century institution, redefining public higher education through cutting-edge experimentation where the science of learning is the fulcrum that enables innovative, omnichannel, lifelong education for the North Texas community and learners across the globe.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for ownership of day-to-day technical management including the designing, procuring, installing and maintaining of all components (digital, communications and other) in setting up large, complex buildings and rooms within the university. This position ensures the system and component specific choices meet the scalability and operational effectiveness needs of UNT.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of related Integrated Systems experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments.
  • Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
  • Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of related Integrated Systems experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Gathers building or room specifications and procures appropriate technology to meet the needs of the space. Conceptualizes, develops, and designs various spaces with integrated technology; and may include custom programming and applications through proprietary software as well as training end users.

Provides expertise in various system environments.

Manages the project design processes from origination/proposal, through execution, and toward completion, assessment, and review.

Ensures backups, disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and effective for technologies developed by DSI Tech

o

Investigates problem situations that require a working knowledge of IT and facilities concepts and in some cases new hardware or software solutions.

o

Ensures technological needs continue to meet the demands of daily operations and are considered in future system designs and design standards.
