Position Description:
The Director, Global Relations & Collaborative Initiatives, Center for MEMES and under the direction of the Executive Director, and in collaboration with academic and administrative leadership, develops and manages initiatives and programs that 1) build and strengthen relationships with campus, community and external partners; 2) foster new streams of financial support, 3) establish strong institutional linkages between the Center for MEMES, other national and international educational and cultural institutions, and government agencies, and 4) develop collaborative initiatives that serve UCLA's mission and showcase the leadership capacity of the Center for MEMES.

The primary areas for program development and support are in educational programs and partnerships focused on the global media, sports, and the cultural, creative and entertainment industries; development of capstone projects for MBA students focused on media, arts and entertainment, sports, and those of topical relevance; and industry summits that bring together storytellers, creative thinkers, activists, executives, and policy makers to better understand the industry, identify areas of social need, and create goodwill for the industry and the Center.
The Director will work closely with the Executive Director to build the reputation and effectiveness of the Center internationally by identifying and engaging with potential partners, thought leaders, influential business executives and sponsors.

It was founded in 1919 and is the second oldest of the ten campuses affiliated with the University of California system. The UCLA College Honors Program is also housed in the College. The College of Letters and Science's programs are divided into five academic divisions: humanities, social sciences, life sciences, physical sciences, and the International Institute. UCLA also offers certificate programs, undergraduate degree-credit and continuing education credits for non-full-time students through its UCLA Extension education program.

The 2010 edition of U.S. News & World Report ranked UCLA as the 24th best university in the nation and 32nd best in the world. In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.

The campus' location in Los Angeles makes excursions to local museums, theaters, or other entertainment venues relatively quick and easy.
