Accountabilities:

The Administrative Assistant position is integral to the success of the center, and therefore the candidate must have competency in computer software beyond the standard programs used in higher education.

You will be supporting staff members that are highly specialized, requiring detailed knowledge of topics relating to their field.
In order to effectively support the staff members and students, you must have a strong comprehension of a variety of wellness topics.

The Administrative Assistant will also support other staff members by monitoring progress and work done by our interns, organize programmatic resources, and step in on many occasions when other staff members are unable to provide supervision for interns.

The Shaw Wellness Institute houses the Bystander Intervention program, which involves high levels of scheduling and communication between several departments.

This position is also responsible for ordering materials and resources, both on and off campus, for a variety of ambassador liaison events and programs.
With much of our work moving to virtual programming and events, our staff needs the extra support from this role to assist with promotion, marketing, and creation of resources for social media, youtube, and other virtual platforms.

Beyond the daily tasks, it is also important to have someone present at our front desk, handling the phone and office email, when students reach out to us, to ensure that they feel comfortable and know what services are available for them.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

•Knowledge of health behavior or health promotion through academic or professional experience.
•Familiarity with contemporary college student issues and student advising.
•Demonstrated commitment to creating inclusive environments.
•Experience with managing and accurately interpreting data.
•Demonstrated ability to network and work cooperatively with colleagues.
•Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization capabilities.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

•One year professional experience in related field.
•Experience in working with student interns.
•Experience in developing and evaluating programs.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or Bachelor’s degree and related experience.
