Develop and coordinate a comprehensive and integrated marketing communications program including media and public relations, publications, advertising, promotional items, signage, website, social media and e-communications to help achieve the goals of the College's Athletic programSCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Sports Information Director Develops and coordinates a comprehensive and integrated marketing communications program including media and public relations, publications, advertising, promotional items, signage, website, social media and e-communications to help achieve the goals of the College's Athletic program is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Sports Information while also providing outstanding promotion of the student athletes, administration, coaches and teams that represent the Kentucky State University (KSU). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Work with the media to solicit event coverage and feature stories about KSU student athletes, teams, coaches, and staff;Assist the media in their coverage of KSU athletics;Manage the content of the KSU Athletics website in a way that provides exceptional coverage of the athletics program;Write and supervise the writing of press releases, game stories, feature stories, game notes and manage the production of various media guides;Generate, compile, distribute and maintain game statistics for all teams;Maintain historical records and photos for a variety of teams;Organize and supervise required statisticians and staffing for home events;Coordinate the issuance of media packets and passesServe as department spokesperson in a variety of circumstances;Coordinate and supervise all press conferences and interviews with KSU Athletics Staff, Coaches and student-athletes;Other related duties as required OTHER DUTIES:
Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree.Excellent organizational skills, time management and multi-tasking skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service.Experience in an administrative support position, which include knowledge of office practices and procedures.Proficiency with various software including but not limited to MS Office, Excel, Access, web creation tools, and integrated software systems.Understanding of the operations and procedures of an intercollegiate athletic department.Flexibility to travel and work nights and weekends required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Outstanding writing, communication and interpersonal skills required.Computer literacy with relevant programs such as Stat Crew and Adobe Photoshop/InDesign preferred.Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, Kentucky State University, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA rules and regulationsAbility to work on deadline and manage multiple tasks required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
:Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.Ability to continuously stand or walk.Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs frequently.Ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.
