Position Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to customers with duplicating and mail room questions.
  • Use computer software for address presorting for bulk mail certifications and address printing.
  • Collate, stuff, bag/bucket/tray and zip code third class mailings according to postal regulations.
  • Complete all required postal paperwork and submit to the Post Office.
  • Manage and perform accounting functions including: departmental chargebacks, duplicating,
    and mailing charges.
  • As workload requires, perform administrative mail sorting, metering, and delivery functions.
  • Assist as needed in the operation of the Student Post Office, Central Supply, and Courier/Delivery
    service.
  • Assist the Grounds Department with deliveries of larger items as time and manpower allow.
  • Maintain contact with Potsdam Postmaster/Syracuse Mail Center regarding postal regulations
    and operations.
  • Perform duplicating, copying and distribution functions for duplicating work requests. Ensure proper
    level of security for sensitive jobs such as tests/examinations.
  • Perform scanning of exams and teacher evaluations using the Scan Tron software and equipment.
  • Sort Business Reply and Postage Due mail and perform accounting data entry function as required.
  • Assist with Custodial duties, as needed. This may include, but is not limited to sweeping,
    mopping, cleaning restrooms, offices, apartments and houses owned by the University, trash
    removal, vacuuming, dusting, assisting in moving furniture and supplies, replacing light bulbs,
    assisting in light grounds pick up, shoveling and sanding.
  • Learn new equipment operation as required by changes in the processes within the
    duplicating/mailing areas.
  • Live out and make decisions in line with the Clarkson University values in all daily activities
    while on duty.
  • Operate and work in a safe manner at all times and ensure the highest level of housekeeping
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to interns, apprentices and/or student workers
  • Willingness to take courses and/or training to meet trade specific and University standards
  • Complete Clarkson Vehicle Safety Checklist before vehicle use. Be responsible for care,
    cleanliness, and maintenance of assigned vehicle and report all vehicle concerns to appropriate
    supervisor immediately.
  • Operate a Clarkson vehicle in accordance with University policy
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
  • Deliver timely, friendly, and effective service to University faculty, staff and students
  • Encourage and Promote Teamwork
  • Ability to gain general knowledge of the campus
  • Participate in reporting of campus damage and/or safety issues
  • Performance of above duties require you to be at work
  • Assist with other projects, administrative duties, and initiatives as assigned

Physical Demands
