Your opportunity:

The Office of Communications is the proactive voice of the University of Toronto Mississauga. It handles all broad-based marketing initiatives on campus including branding, visual identity standards and advertising. Working collaboratively and strategically with academic and administrative units across the campus as well as with our community partners and media, we enhance understanding and support of U of T Mississauga nationally and internationally.

The Communications team seeks a Social Media Officer with the passion and skills to develop creative, engaging, timely and effective social media content that supports the campus’s strategic communications objectives. Reporting to the Senior Social Media Strategist, this individual will create and coordinate multimedia-rich content for the central UTM social media accounts, monitor and report on social media activity, and help identify emerging opportunities to increase follower and engagement metrics. This individual will act as a campus resource, handle competing deadlines and build strong relationships with internal and external colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Disseminating information via social media
  • Keeping well-informed on social media trends, technologies and best practices
  • Preparing schedules for the release of pre-planned social media content
  • Tracking and monitoring social media analytics
  • Advising on strategies to maximize social media presence and growth
  • Designing graphic elements for digital and online media

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years.
  • Proficiency with all relevant social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tik Tok, etc.)
  • Familiarity with workflow management software (e.g. Asana, Basecamp, etc.)
  • Familiar with design platforms (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Familiar with online media management platforms (e.g. digital media banks, YouTube, etc.)

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Familiarity with post-secondary environment is an asset

USW Pay Band 09 -- $58,242 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $74,482. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
