Department: Health Sciences

Position: Assistant Professor of Public Health, Tenure-Track, Starting Fall 2021

Position Description: The Department of Health Sciences is seeking a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Public Health, whose primary teaching responsibilities will include broad areas of Public and Community Health, Health Disparities, Social Determinants of Health and Health Education; and if needed, Foundations of Health Science courses in the University’s liberal arts core curriculum and/or first year program. It is expected that the individual in this position will also develop courses in area of expertise to expand our Health Sciences major and diversify the courses available to our students. The teaching load for this position is 4 courses per semester. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to: (1). Excellence in teaching, preferably in liberal arts education setting; (2). Establishing a productive research program that will involve undergraduate students; (3). Academic advising to student success and prepare students’ readiness to graduate programs in discipline; and (4). Providing services to the department, school, university, and community.

Qualifications: Earned Ph.D., Dr. Ph., or equivalent research doctorate degree in a Public Health or related discipline from an accredited institution and must have a broad background in teaching public health courses.  The successful candidate must have demonstrated interest and aptitude for teaching undergraduate students in support of the mission of a public liberal arts institution, understanding of diversity and equity, with evidence of scholarly works and professional service. A.B.D. will be considered with doctoral degree completion date on or before August 2021. One year or more of undergraduate teaching experience in the related courses, preferably in liberal arts education institution is preferred.

Preferred Qualification:  One year or more of undergraduate teaching experience in the related courses, and/or pre-health professional students, preferably in liberal arts education institution; A Master of Public Health from an accredited institution; Practical public health experience.
