With a rich agricultural heritage, a diverse industrial base, and a wide range of cultural and historical sites, Newport is a community of approximately 8,000 people where industry, education and community leaders are working together. Located just 90 miles from both Memphis and Little Rock, big city life is close enough to enjoy, but far enough away that it doesn't impact the enjoyment of living in a small town. The community has wonderful opportunities for tourism, shopping, and entertainment. Newport is one of few comparably sized communities that has two 18-hole golf courses, a state park and museum, two annual festivals and a host of community cultural activities for families. From being a “Keep America Beautiful” affiliate to being an “Arkansas Economic Development Commission Competitive Community”, Newport has been involved in numerous programs that are aimed at keeping the community the kind of place everyone would be proud to call home. ASU-Newport has additional campus locations in Jonesboro (44 miles) and Marked Tree (54 miles). Additional information about Newport can be found at http://www.newportarchamber.org/
