Position Description:
As Chief Financial Officer of the Herb Alpert School of Music provide professional support for a complex array of services and resources to schools departments.

The School of Music is comprised of three departments: Music, Musicology, and Ethnomusicology and one IDP, Global Jazz. In addition to a Music Industry Minor Program there are the following Centers: the Center for Latino Arts, the Center for Music Innovation, the Center for Musical Humanities, the World Music Center at UCLA, the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA with budgets totaling in excess of $30 million from multiple fund sources--state, contracts and grants, sales/services, and gifts and endowments.

Major duties include oversight of financial performance of the school; participation in strategic planning and implementation; preparation of financial forecasts and plans; oversight of development and preparation of school-wide annual budget; interpretation and application of budgetary policies and procedures; implementation of and compliance with controls initiatives; creation and interpretation of analytical studies on school resources to maximize human and financial resources.

The 2010 edition of U.S. News & World Report ranked UCLA as the 24th best university in the nation and 32nd best in the world. In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
