Job Description:

Identify Opportunities: Identify potential opportunities to develop mutually beneficial relationships with corporate partners. Consider potentially non-traditional and out-of-the-box approaches to maximize long-term value from relationships. Seek and establish corporate opportunities to advance faculty research and university mission.

Leadership and Faculty Outreach: Through understanding a wide variety of technologies in life sciences and biotech sciences, must be able to understand needs and opportunities and communicate effectively with key Health Science Center faculty to balance UF policies and procedures while driving an improvement in accelerating these faculty’s work to commercialization.

Manage Corporate Relationships: Provide independent, ongoing liaison with key faculty corporate partners and institutional collaborators. Serve as an alliance manager for ongoing corporate partnerships, tracking funded and collaborative projects and streamlining communications and problem-solving as necessary. Serve as an initial contact point, and a concierge for corporations seeking to partner with University of Florida.

Maximize Exposure of UF Research Expertise: Assist in raising awareness of and interest in faculty’s research suitable for outside corporate parties to consider contract research, and investments, provide appropriate materials for their review, and ultimately develop a mutually beneficial business relationship. Identify and implement creative strategies to raise exposure of faculty research, provide connections for faculty with industry partners, enabling longer-term collaborations and raising the stature of the university.

Administration: Ensure that all relevant communications are captured in the accurately and in timely fashion and work to enable transparency with other University Partners. Work with the Tech Licensing, Division of Sponsored Programs and Office of Clinical Research to review and negotiate appropriate agreements governing corporate partnerships. Communicate and track opportunities for faculty research. Develop and institutionalize tools to track partnered projects and holistically track multi-faceted relationships.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of industry experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant industry related business development experience.

A Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline with experience working in or with the private sector plus alliance management, corporate sponsored research, corporate research contracting or technology management experience is preferable.

Excellent human relations skills including the ability to function in a team setting, work independently, with ability to improve the communication, collaboration and coordination across University Partners. Knowledge of computers and ability to use database. Ability to organize and maintain records, to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, and policies and procedures. Attention to detail
