Core Research Facility Specialist II
Job Description:55%: Operation of liquid handling system for NextGen libraries preparation and its associated application; qPCR and digital PCR plate set up; data delivery to customers.
10%: Perform DNA/RNA extraction, RNA/DNA quality assessment using Nanodrop, Bioanalyzer, picogreen and Qubit formats; DNA library fragment analysis.
10%: Set up/develop new technologies; provide critical evaluation and input on protocol improvement.
10%: Customer interaction, project management, troubleshooting: training of coworkers and supervision of all laboratory staff as needed during absence of Scientific Director.
5%: Single cell genomic analysis-related services.
5%: Process RNA samples for analysis on the Affymetrix GeneChip system.
5%: Monitor lab supplies and additional duties as required
$45,000 - $48,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience
Minimum Requirements:MS required or 7 years science related, core specific advanced training and work experience and/or post-graduate coursework. Requires at least 3 years in core facility specific applications and at least 2 years of that in research-based technology. Work experience in multi-user core facility preferred. Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally yearly certificate and compliance training if required.
Preferred Qualifications:-Master’s degree with at least 3 years’ experience in molecular biology/genomics laboratory
- Experience in genomics/molecular biology laboratory
- Extensive knowledge of standard molecular biology procedures
- Detail oriented and ability to maintain accurate lab records
-Direct experience in RNASeq library construction using liquid handling automation
-Knowledge of and experience working with and maintaining laboratory equipment/supplies
-Ability to learn new laboratory procedures rapidly
-Ability to work with and train others
-Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate projects
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with employees and customers
- Ability to willingly accept constructive criticism from supervisor
- Self-motivated, positive individual
