Classification Title:

OPS - O'Connell Center Crew Member

oJob Description:

Working at the O’Connell Center will give you the opportunity to work for one of the largest part-time employers on campus. The O’Connell Center provides an exciting and dynamic environment that makes us unlike anything else on campus. Being a crew member requires teamwork, dedication, and a friendly, positive attitude to contribute to the many events held at the facility. The O’Connell Center offers flexible scheduling by allowing crew members to self-schedule from a list of shifts based on our event schedule. Shifts range from before, during, and/or after events held inside and outside of the building.

Shifts are categorized by three major divisions: Event Staff, Changeover, and Technical. Crew members are able to work shifts within all divisions. For event staff shifts, you will be working inside or outside the building upholding the policies of the building, the university, and the event for which you are working. You will also be assisting patrons by answering questions or helping them to their seats, scanning tickets, and maintaining a friendly and positive attitude throughout the crew. For changeover shifts, you will assist with the facilitation of the setup and breakdown of events, as well as helping to maintain cleanliness during events. For technical shifts, you will be assisting with the stage, electrical, and audio aspects of the event.

You will be trained before you can work any of these shifts, so no prior knowledge or experience is necessary but is always welcomed.

We are currently seeking individuals who enjoy working outside and interacting with Gator Fans that visit our campus every home football game weekend. Our department works with the University Athletic Association to help provide a safe and fun environment for fans to enjoy the excitement of game day. You will assist with the security of reserved lots, navigating patrons towards available lots, and answering patrons' questions as they arise. The majority of shifts end before kick off, therefore you will not have to work through Football games; at worst, you will be 15 minutes late to the game.

Everyone who applies and is offered this position will be required to work ALL Fall 2020 home football game days. This position will begin in early October upon the completion of orientation. Additional crew member requirements, as listed on our website, will also apply (under job requirements): https://www.oconnellcenter.ufl.edu/part-time-employment/
