AP Accessions: 5%
Prepare Anatomic Pathology laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Unpacks specimens and routes by type to various staging areas. Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of slides, blocks, and other specimens. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem specimens.
CP Accessions: 35%
Prepare Clinical Pathology laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Unpacks specimens and routes by type to various staging areas. Prepares all specimens received for testing such as blood, urine, serum, biological swabs, etc. Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and documents and resolves problem specimens.
Receive and record all specimens/slides/blocks into daily receipt log, this includes checking bins in Shands Clinical Lab periodically throughout the day for additional samples.
Pre-accession specimens, orders tests, print out labels and attaches to paperwork and specimen container, print Test Order form – then deliver to appropriate lab and specimen to designated location.
Forwards copy of report to appropriate in house physician/lab.
CP Processing: 35%
Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears. Aliquots sample for departments. Documents and stores excess specimen samples. Perform initial processing and storage of biospecimens including centrifuging samples, pipetting, labeling and storing. Assist with daily operations and maintenance of the instruments.
Other duties as assigned, incidental to the work described herein. Duties such as: Maintaining the lab space, inventory and lab roster.
Collects patient and insurance information and ensure required details are included on the forms. This position also verifies confirms insurance information.Expected Salary:
$14.00 - $17.00Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant office experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experiencePreferred Qualifications:
Communication skills which will allow the prospective employee to interact with UF physicians, client physicians and other health professionals in a professional manner. Ability to work in a potentially stressful environment. Ability to quickly learn various aspects of Lab Operations. Knowledge of Medical terminology.
