Position Description:
The Lead Security Officer will provide leadership on a daily basis to the Security Department during the Graveyard Shift, which is responsible for the overall safety and security of the Museum's premises, collection, employees, vendors and contractors.

Primary responsibilities include communicating to the Associate Director, Security & Gallery Operations of any incident that occurs throughout the shift that can negatively impact the Museum. Examples of these incidents can be, but are not limited to, medical, security incidents, equipment and systems failure, HVAC-related issues, property and art damage, fire, and any outside entity wanting to gain access to the property without prior approval. In such cases the Lead Security Officer will follow established protocols aimed at minimizing and stopping any negative impact to the Museum. In the event outside emergency services such as LAPD, UCPD or the Fire Department are called to assist, the Lead Security Officer will be the first point of contact with such entities.

The Lead Security Officer shall perform all duties through highly proactive, appropriately preemptive, and immediately responsive action. They will inspect and patrol all Museum spaces on foot, including onsite event and program spaces; monitor and operate computerized alarm, access, and closed circuit television systems; watch for, report, and address potential security and safety hazards and problems; check entrances and exits; and perform dispatch duties.

The incumbent maintains and files security logs and reports, and performs other Security duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Security & Gallery Operations, and management.
