Requisition Number: 32696
Salary: $4,842 - $9,591 monthly
The Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS) at UCLA's School of Education and Information Studies serves as a thought partner and critical source of support for schools, districts and county offices of education across the country in fulfilling their mission of ensuring that all children receive the education they deserve. CTS' research and tools helps school systems, government leaders and community members reimagine the ways in which they can raise academic achievement by getting students more motivated and involved in learning, building on their strengths and the cultural resources of their families, and using education as a means to break cycles of poverty.
Under the general direction of the CTS Directors, the Research Analyst will play a significant role in carrying out research with a strong qualitative and mixed methods focus on projects related to educational equity and access issues and the school-to-prison pipeline, with a focus on CTS projects: state educational outcomes for homeless youth, and a juvenile justice study on Los Angeles County, and a statewide pilot project to reduce school suspensions. The Research Analyst will focus on disparities in school discipline, achievement, graduation rates and other areas, prioritizing work in California but including other states and federal level programs. The incumbent will serve as lead researcher for CTS on the Juvenile Justice Study and Outcomes for Homeless Youth Study, while also working closely with the MTSS Project Director to shape the research portfolio of statewide pilot. Specifically, the Research Analyst will be deeply involved in the design, organization, management, and analysis of qualitative data in order to examine patterns of disparities in education, discipline, and access to educational supports or resources along a broad set of demographic and economic quantitative data sources. Incumbent will participate in collaborative research, report writing, and dissemination, including public presentations of research findings and assistance with strategy development for policy change work in California among all the CTS research projects. This position will be based at the Center for the Transformation of Schools at UCLA. Some travel to conduct field work and to attend conferences/meetings will be required.
