Job Summary  

Provide daily care, husbandry, and support to the laboratory animals at GCMI/T3 Labs' test facility sites. Administer medications, sedatives, and anesthetics to lab animals. Manage the post-operative care of minor surgical models. Document records and research data timely and accurately. This position will interact on a regular basis with: This position will interact with GCMI/T3 labs other technical positions, research scientist, and faculty.  This positions influence is to support the execution of research and training projects for internal and external customers. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise:  NA.

Responsibilities  

Job Duty 1 -
Provide support for the daily care and husbandry of the animals in the vivarium.

Job Duty 2 -
Administering medications and sedatives to the animal models.

Job Duty 3 -
Train to manage anesthesia for live animal models.

Job Duty 4 -
Manage the post-operative care of minor surgical models.

Job Duty 5 -
Perform timely and accurate record keeping and data collection.

Job Duty 6 -
Review records and data to confirm accuracy.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications  

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Other Required Qualifications
Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician American Association for Laboratory Animal Science certification within 12 months of hire

Required Experience
Three years of job related experience

SKILLS
Knowledge of medication calculations, common drugs for laboratory animal sedation and analgesia. The ability to execute medical orders and research protocols instructions with minimal supervision. The ability to routinely lift more than 50 lbs. The ability to properly restrain and sedate lab animals. Ability to use Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications  

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Veterinary Technician certification and one year of lab animal GLP or veterinary experience

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Associate's Degree or two years college course work; Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Experience
Two years lab animal GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) or veterinary medicine experience with college degree; One of year lab animal GLP or veterinary medicine experience with veterinary technician certification
