Chair and Program Director: Master of Physician Assistant Program

 

The University of the Sciences (USciences), in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates (SH & A), is seeking a Chair and Program Director for their Physician Assistant Program. The Chair and Program Director is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and management of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. The Chair and Program Director will serve as the Program’s strategic academic and operational leader by guiding the faculty in program development, accreditation self-study, curriculum, administration, teaching, research, and service. The Chair and Program Director will report directly to the Dean of the Samson College of Health Sciences.

 

Samson College of Health Sciences: At the Samson College of Health Sciences, the students focus on improving patients’ lives, and the graduates translate that enthusiasm into rewarding careers as physical therapists, occupational therapists, physician assistants, and professionals in exercise science and wellness management.

 

The College is made up of four departments: Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies. The Department of Physician Assistant Studies offers two degree programs: Undergraduate Pre-Professional Program (BS) and the Graduate Professional Physician Assistant Program (MSPAS).

Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must be a PA and hold a current or emeritus NCCPA certification in good standing;
  • Fiscal management, organizational and administrative skills;
  • Knowledgeable in continuous review and analysis, planning and development;
  • Practical knowledge of innovative educational methods and curricular design;
  • Current experience with and knowledge of accreditation and certification procedures for physician assistant programs;
  • Five years experience teaching within a PA program preferably as a Director or Associate Director;
  • Demonstrate creativity in recruiting students from underrepresented minorities and developing teaching modalities to ensure student success;
  • Experience and success improving access for women and underrepresented minorities including mentoring women and minorities;

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the missions of the university, college, department and respective degree programs;
  • Exercises general administrative authority and responsibility for the department;
  • Fills faculty and staff positions and provides professional development;
  • Coordinates the teaching, service, and advising of the department;
  • Promotes faculty research and professional service;
  • Manages Department/Program budget and resources;
  • Assess student learning at the program and course levels, and develops plans for improvement;
  • Establishes departmental goals and procedures for assessing goal attainment;
  • Participates in professional development and scholarly activity or service at a national level;
  • Oversees all accreditation and certification procedures for physician assistant programs
