Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Custodial Staff, 2nd Shift (Temporary) in the Custodial Services Department.

Duties include, but are not limited to: general cleaning and sanitizing assigned restroom facilities; cleaning all surfaces and items in assigned areas; maintaining flooring in designated areas; removing trash and recyclables; assisting team with cleaning/turn-over of all rooms for Fall Check-in, Winter Break and Spring Move-out; cleaning for summer conferences and orientations; maintaining equipment and reporting maintenance and supply needs; stocking and maintaining supply carts and closets; and providing exceptional customer service to all constituents.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least six (6) months of experience in custodial field are required. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess: the ability to deal courteously with the public and students; the ability to work independently and supervise student employees; the knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings; the knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures preferred; and the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Temporary position- pay rate $10.25 per hour. Normal work hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University. Maximum hours per week are 25.

Required Licensure and/or CertificationKnowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of good custodial practices and a complete understanding of cleaning products and equipment available. Must be able to operate extractors, buffers, burnishers, vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacs, mop/broom and have a working knowledge and experience with cleaners and chemicals. Good verbal and written communication skills.
