Description:

The Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics invites applications for a full-time faculty position in mathematics or statistics. The position involves teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, depending on interests and skills. Currently, the department has 11 full-time faculty members serving more than 60 mathematics and physics majors and 30 minors. The department offers undergraduate majors in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Physics, several general education courses, and a Masters degree in Applied Statistics and Analytics.

 

Responsibilities:

Teach courses in mathematics, statistics, or related fields, maintain an active research program involving students, mentor and advise students, and participate in department and university affairs. Engage in ongoing professional development (e.g., seminars and conferences) to stay current with cutting-edge pedagogies and methodologies.

 

Level and appointment: Open rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) eligible for term-tenure extended contract

 

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience

 

Qualifications:

  • For mathematics applicants, a Ph.D. is required. Statistics applicants should have either a Ph.D. or a Masters degree together with substantial industry experience.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University. (Faculty members are required to sign a “Statement of Faith,” available at http://www.apu.edu/about/believe, and to adhere to the policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.)
  • An interest in helping students to integrate their faith and their studies.

 

Experience:

All candidates should have experience teaching mathematics or statistics at the university level. The ideal candidate will have an active research program.

 

Workload: Full-time 9-month term; up to 24 units of teaching per academic year. Optional summer additional work.

 

Hire Date: Open until filled. Review of applications will start September 1, 2020. Employment expected to start Fall 2021.
