This is an entry-level research technician position in a molecular plant
genetics laboratory. Primary duties will include preparing genomic libraries
for Next-Generation Sequencing and performing molecular techniques at the
bench for projects in our lab. Additionally, this position involves laboratory
maintenance tasks including organizing the lab, taking inventory, placing
orders, and general upkeep.
Communicates effectively via email and in person. Utilizes computer technology in a manner that meets expectations. Learns quickly. Detail oriented. Organized and able to keep track of multiple tasks, duties, and
projects. Highly focused on the task at hand. Can work equally well independently or as a team to complete projects.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Sit or stand for long periods of time and use repetitive actions during the entire workday. Library preparation. Can include genomic DNA libraries, bisulfite libraries, RNA-seq, DAP-seq, and ChIP-seq libraries. Maintaining sample inventory, preparing inputs, making the libraries, checking library quality, pooling samples and submitting orders for sequencing.Percentage of time30Duties/Responsibilities
Routine techniques for projects in the lab. Can include planting and maintaining seed lines, genotyping plants using PCR, and working with BSL1 bacteria toward directed projects.Percentage of time20Duties/Responsibilities
