Job Details
The Department of Communications at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Mass Communication – Journalism & Digital Media Production, beginning Fall 2021. The successful candidate will teach a 3-3 load and will be expected to maintain an appropriate level of scholastic activity and service necessary to secure tenure and promotion with the Department of Communications.
Priority will be given to candidates who have professional experience in broadcast journalism. An established research agenda and experience with online teaching formats is preferred. Primary academic instruction will focus on teaching students the fundamentals of audio/visual production, television news production, and professional practices. Courses will include Aural-Visual Production, Television Production and Performance, Advanced Radio-Television Production, and other communication courses as determined by the Department Chair.
An earned doctorate in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a closely related field is required. (ABD will be considered but the degree must be completed by the time of appointment). Candidates with professional experience in broadcast journalism will be given priority.
