Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

The incumbent serves as lead and overseesinstitutional research activities including data management and analyses,organizational effectiveness, and continuous quality improvement initiativesincluding accreditation. Particular attention is focused on establishing andmaintaining close working relationships with the faculty and the VicePresidents in the continuous assessment of student learning and instructionalquality. Serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet.

*Through appropriate staff and committee involvement, ensure shared development, review, and revision of the College mission and strategic plan within guidelines established by the institution, Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).
*Chairs the Institutional Outcomes & Quality Assurance Committee and Co-Chairs the Data Team as part of the Campus Planning Structure.
*Document institutional outcomes, assessments and measures of effectiveness.
*Evaluate and interpret data and communicate findings and recommendations to the President, administrative officers, deans and directors, and other college-wide users/consumers.
*Coordinate and implement a comprehensive program of institutional assessment and evaluation activities at the College including the maintenance of the “Fact Book” in support of the majority of data needs, providing timely and well-designed reports to the academic and operational units of the College.
*Work closely with instructional and student services units to collect and analyze student learning outcomes data to include retention and graduation data, consult with administrative units in measuring and analyzing performance outcomes, and design measures and collect data to assess college-wide goals and objectives.
*Prepare and submit state and federal reports on student enrollment and completion, student satisfaction and performance and other areas as required by external agencies and governmental entities.
*Serve as liaison with TBR, THEC, and Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) for state reporting requirements and to other state and local entities.
*Provide leadership to ensure that the College meets external accreditation requirements. Serves as SACSCOC Liaison.
*Maintain institutional performance-based funding programs sponsored by TBR and THEC.
*Initiate and provide input on institutional policies, procedures and practices that relate to the collection, analysis and management of data including implementation and operation of best practices in data mining and data warehousing.
*Presents timely data reports at Cabinet meetings.
*Prepare annual budgets for areas of responsibility.
*Perform other duties as assigned.


Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred.
Three years of experience in testing/assessment, evaluation methodology, or institutional effectiveness activities.
Community college and Banner experience are preferred.
College teaching experience preferred.
Documented oral and written communication skills appropriate for constituencies.
Technical and managerial experience appropriate for supervision of college-wide assessment activities, computing processes, personnel, and budgets.

Annual Salary:       $72,380 - $90,480
