Position Summary:

The NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose mission is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research, education, and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC conducts interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research into the causes, prevention, therapy, and survival of cancer, trains the next generation of cancer investigators and care providers, serves as a community and regional resource for state-of-the-art information and expertise on cancer, and delivers the highest-quality multidisciplinary care to cancer patients and their families within our catchment area. To facilitate this, the CFCCC provides research resources to its ~175 cross-institutional members engaged in this research.

The Informatics Project Manager (IPM) applies advanced technical project management for multiple databases to provide valid current data outlining highly critical data needs for complex issues. The ongoing analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors including policies/requirements of an external credentialing entity. The IPM determines methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results and enages in projects of broad and diverse scope with considerable impact to the Cancer Center and overall institution. The IPM is directly responsible for the management of multiple database systems cataloguing and managing informatics data required of a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center as awarded via the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) mechanism. The designation has vital reputational and financial impact for UCI and UCI Health. Adherence to the guidelines of the CCSG is mandatory and involves ongoing monitoring of full organizational data for structure, direction, and ongoing leadership strategy. All decisions at the Center are taken within the context of the CCSG requirements which serve as guidelines for best practice both regionally and nationally. The IPM reports to the Cancer Center Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Associate Director for Administration & Finance. The IPM is responsible for a broad spectrum of complex analytical duties supporting many critical high-profile projects often requiring adherence to tight deadlines. As the subject matter expert on all data systems supporting the intra-institutional Cancer Center, as required by the NCI, the incumbent is responsible for understanding all requirements, and establishing and maintaining the Cancer Center's informatics systems. In all of these areas, the IPM exercises independent authority to carry out required responsibilities. This position is critical to the overall strategic mission of the CFCCC.

7-9 years of progressively responsible informatics/database/information technology experience in an academic or research environment

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Experience with large multidisciplinary, multi-component research grants (e.g. Cancer Center Support Grant) Experience in Advarra Forte's Research Evaluation System (EVAL) Experience in Advarra Forte's Enterprise Research System (OnCore) Experience in Agilent's Core Facilities Management software (iLab) Knowledge of pertinent policies, procedures, regulations and requirements of UC, State, Federal, and other agencies pertaining to research and administrative management of grants and contracts Knowledge of University of California policies with regard to research administration, finances and human resources

Special Conditions Required:

May require occasional after-hours and weekend work hours and/or travel to both the Irvine campus location and off-campus venues for meetings/events Attendance at 1-2 annual national off-campus meetings
